Mom, Dad and my oldest brother Nathan
Another of my cousins (Vickie Williams) posted this picture of my Grandma Hunt today.
She had this poem she had written to go along with it.
My Grandma's Hands
The greatest gift was given to me not all at once but slow. It started out with homemade bread canned peaches in gold bowls
My mother told me stories of her cleaning others' homes, of bathing sisters who had not learned basics at their mother's knee.
As years went by I saw her work I watched her making pies. She slipped across the street with one for the widow who had none
And then when I was old enough she asked me to come along, to sing a song and bring a smile for a an older sister left alone.
As one and all who've crossed her path are touched by her kind hands, she looks at them and longs for the beauty of yester years gone.
She hides them in her apron. They embarrass her, but not me, for they have enveloped and have loved - everyone - not just me.
They're a testament of service for everyone to see.

I've been feeling a need to be more connected with people lately-especially my extended family. Since my Grandma was older when she had my Mom and my Mom was older when she had me, I have never known my cousins as well because they are all much older than I am. I also have a completely different set of memories of Grandparents than they or even my siblings do. It will be nice now to reconnect with family and get to know them better.
Facebook will be fun, but I'll have to watch myself and make sure I'm not wasting a bunch of time on it. That was another of my fears for getting facebook. I don't think I'll do much posting on it. I'll save that for my blog. My facebook account will exist mostly so that I can spy on others:)

Agreed on all that you said Ivy. I saw this pics yesterday on facebook too. I really think I see a lot of Elijah in this little face of Nathan's.
In the end, that was why I got on facebook about a year ago also: to connect with extended family...It is fun to catch up with everyone...but beware! It can be a time sucker!
Oops, that was audra, not chris. I guess Chris is signed in.
Somehow this blog passed right by me! I haven't signed up for facebook because I feel stubborn about it, too. But I WOULD like to get my hands on Julie's pictures! Does she have any of grandma when she was newly married or older teen years? I need one for my wall.
I'm glad that you're still going to put all of your posts on you blog so that I can see them:)
I need to call you soon - I haven't talked to you in a long time!!
